Chartres and McDonalds

After leaving Amboise we drove to Chartres, where we saw the cathedral and ate lunch. Unfortunately, much of the interior of the cathedral was afflicted by scaffolding, limiting our interior inspection and denying us the opportunity to climb the bell tower, which was very disappointing. Nevertheless we were impressed by its size and intricate stone and wood work.
In Chartres, we also had the opportunity to try a French McDonalds (pronounced MacDough) which proved superior to its American counterpart not in food quality but in customer service (it also had a sign outside warning about the dangers of eating too much fat and salt). (TS)

Despite a madhouse of activity our food was prepared and served quickly
