Salt Baths and Pelota

After our trip into Spain, we enjoyed a leisurely day in Salies-de-Bearn, a town known for its geothermal springs which produce an inexhaustible supply of salt water. We spent an hour in the thermal baths here, which are ten times saltier than the ocean.
Later we drove back into St. Jean-Pied-de-Port to see a Pelota match, which is a Basque game involving bouncing a ball against a wall, using either bare hands (with some padding on the palm), a wooden racket, or a large scoop-like glove called a xistera. The match we watched used the xistera, although we had seen part of a game the previous day which used bare hands. (TS)
