The first leg of our journey brought us to Iceland, where we had a one hour layover (our prolonged visit to this island will be on the return trip). This flight lasted roughly five and a half hours. En route to Iceland, we saw the impressive mountainous terrain of Greenland, which even at 37,000 feet was clearly visible (see pictures). We landed on Iceland at around 11:20 pm local time, twenty minutes before sunset. The second leg of our trip was only three hours long and brought us to Paris. We arrived at 6:10 am local time. From the Charles de Gaulle airport, we took the RER train to the Gare du Nord. This train ride afforded us (excluding mom) with our first close up views of France. Apart from a different assortment of trees and vehicles, Paris viewed from the train appeared very similar (in my opinion) to the northeastern part of our country. From the Gare du Nord, we took a taxi to our AirBnB apartment. Arriving with some time before the scheduled meeting with our hosts, we decided to go get a Parisian breakfast consisting of a croissant, hot drink (chocolat or cafe), and juice. We ended the morning with a six hour nap. (TS)

So ends our first full day in Paris. We rose mid-afternoon, got some groceries, then proceeded on a tour of the neighborhood - Sacre Coeur, Pigalle, Moulin Rouge, then the Metro over to the Eiffel Tower. More pics tomorrow as it is now 2:30 am Paris time and we have got to conform to this time zone!
