First Day in Paris

Wednesday we walked from our apartment on Rue Lamarck to Montmartre (the highest point in Paris) to see Sacre Coeur, a basilica constructed from the white gypsum found within the hill. We then took the metro to Trocadero (just across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower) after a brief stop by the Moulin Rouge, a famous night club. From Trocadero, we walked to the Eiffel Tower and climbed to the top (we took the steps up to the second level but were forced to take the elevator to the third level, as this is the only option for tourists). Afterwards we walked along the Champ de Mars and witnessed one of the hourly light shows of the Eiffel Tower (see video). (TS)
